Mirror on SideAs we enter into this fire year of 2012, we begin with the ritual of getting clarity, setting intention, and rallying the forces that will guide us in the coming year.

It is said that there are 2 truths about self-awareness:

  1. You are not who you think you are.
  2. You are who you think you are.

This may initially sound like a contradiction, but if you investigate a little closer, it makes a lot of sense. You are not who you think you are . . . a loser, a failure, stupid, fat, lazy . . . Whatever it is that you think about yourself that is not supportive of your genius, you are not! However, what you think about yourself, the inner dialogue, the conversation and thought inside your mind, is what you begin to create in your life.

What You Focus on You Feed

Many of the things we are taught to think about ourselves are patterns that come from our family, ancestors, life situations, and other people’s responses to us. All of this can change!

I want you to make a list of what you think about yourself. Be honest and be sincere. Next, make a list of what you want to be. You might think about this second list as who you are in your “genius” self. It’s important here, as well, to be sincere, brutally honest, and focus not just on the visual of what it is like to be your genius self, but what it feels like to be your genius self!

Stone Faces SmilingTake the first list, honor it, and thank it for whatever gifts it has brought to you. Then it is time to burn it. Make it an offering to the ancestors of the energy that you would like them to take from you. Make it a sacred ritual of honoring the part of yourself that you no longer need to carry into the coming year.

Next, take the second list and make many copies of it. I want you to post this list everywhere: on your refrigerator, on your bathroom mirror, on your car dashboard, on your desk, your computer screen . . . anywhere you will be where you can be reminded of the one you are becoming. I actually don’t even like to think in terms of becoming; it really is who you are, now, for real, just unseen.

Welcome The Genius You!

Own your genius! And step into the new year with a positive point of view about the you that has been hidden behind the curtains of criticism, self judgment, self sabotage, and other unhealthy activities. Tear the curtains down! Welcome the genius you!

Happy new year to all of you!
